The Greater Lafayette Community Land Trust
We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home - and that’s why we started the Greater Lafayette Community Land Trust, an organization created to encourage and perpetuate attainable housing opportunities in the Tippecanoe County region. Over 250,000 families and individuals across the country have become homeowners through shared equity homeownership programs, with 87% of those being first time home buyers. We are bringing this model to the Tippecanoe County community to provide residents an opportunity to work toward sustainability, build wealth, and to accomplish their financial goals.

What is a Community Land Trust?
A Community Land Trust is a nonprofit organization created to perpetuate attainable housing. The Land Trust organization buys or builds homes to sell to community residents, offering a lower purchase price by maintaining ownership of the land itself. Residents can accumulate equity in their purchase, but the Land Trust organization caps appreciation value to ensure the house remains attainable for future homeowners. No single program can solve attainable housing completely, but this is one tool to help Tippecanoe County community members build wealth over time, afford other life expenses, and feel supported by an organization that helps them along the way.
Taking the land out of the purchase price is what makes the home attainable — and keeps it attainable for the next household.
Board of Directors
As a nonprofit organization, the Greater Lafayette Community Land Trust is run by a Board of Directors. Many of our Board Members serve in other roles in the local community as well, demonstrating a commitment to the improvement and sustainability of the Tippecanoe County region.
